Body Found Near Cameron; Foul Play Not Suspected

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was discovered along a road near Cameron over the weekend.

A passerby reportedly spotted the body near Atkins Road and Boys Camp Road and contacted 911. First responders and law-enforcement officers were then dispatched to the area.

Moore County Deputies Investigating the Death

Chief Deputy Andy Conway said investigators do not currently suspect foul play. Authorities believe the death may have involved an overdose, but that possibility has not been confirmed.

An autopsy and toxicology testing will be needed before investigators can officially determine the cause of death. Toxicology results can sometimes take several weeks to complete.

The identity of the person and additional information surrounding the discovery had not been released as of the latest update.

Investigation Remains Open

Although authorities do not believe the death resulted from foul play, the investigation will remain open while officials await the medical examiner’s findings.

Anyone experiencing an emergency should call 911. People seeking help for a possible drug overdose can also administer naloxone when it is available and immediately contact emergency services.

Star 102.5 will provide additional information if the Moore County Sheriff’s Office releases an update.
