Taylor Swift Leads the American Music Award Nominees

The nominees for the 2026 American Music Awards were announced yesterday, and Taylor Swift leads with eight.  She’s currently the most-awarded artist in AMA history with 40 wins.

Morgan WallenSabrina CarpenterOlivia Dean, and Sombr follow Taylor in a four-way tie for second place with seven nominations each.  Alex Warren and Lady Gaga are third with six.

Taylor, Sabrina, Morgan, and Lady Gaga are all up for Artist of the Year, along with Bad BunnyBruno MarsBTSHarry StylesJustin Bieber, and Kendrick Lamar.

Alex, Olivia, and Sombr are up for New Artist of the Year, along with Ella LangleyKatseye, and Leon Thomas.

The NEW categories this year include Breakout Tour, Breakthrough Album of the Year, Best Vocal Performance, and Song of the Summer.  There’s also Best Throwback Song.  The nominees for that are 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up”Black Eyed Peas’ “Rock That Body”, and “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.

The AMAs go down on Memorial Day . . . Monday, May 25th, on CBS and Paramount+.  Queen Latifah is hosting.

Unlike many other award shows, the fans decide the winners. Voting is currently open

North Carolina Burn Ban Lifted Including Moore County

The statewide North Carolina burn ban lifted Friday morning for the remaining counties still under restrictions, including Moore County and several communities across the Sandhills.
