Aberdeen Shooting Leaves Man Critically Injured

A 40-year-old man was airlifted to a trauma center in critical condition following an Aberdeen shooting Wednesday night at the Woodlawn Apartments on Magnolia Drive.

Aberdeen Police officers were dispatched to the apartment complex at approximately 8:16 p.m. after reports of shots fired. While officers were responding, emergency dispatchers received another call reporting that a person was on the ground and calling for help.

When officers arrived, they reportedly found the victim suffering from two gunshot wounds—one to the chest and another to the arm. First responders provided lifesaving care before the man was flown to an area trauma center.

Police Search for Person of Interest

Police identified a person of interest and searched the surrounding area Wednesday night with help from K-9 units. According to the initial description released at the scene, police were looking for a man approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, white shorts, black high-top shoes and a black durag.

The search included an area near the hotels behind Starbucks around Columbus Drive and South Hill Road. A portion of Magnolia Drive was temporarily closed while investigators processed the scene.

Aberdeen Shooting Believed to Be Isolated

Authorities said the Aberdeen shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and did not indicate an ongoing threat to the general public. Police had not released information about a possible motive as of the initial report.
