The City of Sanford and Brick Capital Community Development Corporation are moving forward with the new W.T. Wilson Ridge affordable-housing development.
The first phase will include 16 apartments dedicated to permanent supportive housing and 12 single-family homes. Another 36 houses are planned for a later phase.
The single-family homes will use a community-land-trust model. Brick Capital will retain ownership of the land, helping reduce the amount qualified buyers must finance.
Sanford and Lee County have each committed $850,000 toward the project, while Brick Capital has committed $450,000. The city also received $950,000 in federal community-development funds for infrastructure.
