Aberdeen and Robbins Elementary Schools Detail Improvement Plans

Moore County School

Moore County Schools is increasing academic and behavioral support at Aberdeen and Robbins elementary schools as both campuses work to move out of low-performing status.

Aberdeen Builds on Recent Progress

Aberdeen Elementary’s school-performance score has climbed from 37 in 2024 to 54 in 2026. The school hopes to reach 60—the score needed for a C grade—in 2027.

Administrators said reading remains a major concern. The school has added full- and part-time intervention staff, with an emphasis on foundational literacy in kindergarten through second grade. Teachers will review assessment results weekly and use classroom observations to identify effective teaching practices.

Aberdeen is also expanding behavioral support after recording approximately 100 office discipline referrals early in the school year.

Robbins Targets Reading Gaps

Robbins Elementary is seeking a 10-percentage-point improvement in grade-level proficiency. Principal Renee Robbins reported that 44 percent of students are currently performing one year below grade level.

The school is using assessment data, small-group instruction, vocabulary work and classroom coaching to address those gaps. Staff members also completed training focused on classroom relationships, expectations and student accountability.
