The Pinehurst-based World Golf Hall of Fame has named 14 finalists for its Class of 2027, recognizing accomplished players and influential figures from across the game.
The finalists are divided among four categories: male competitors, female competitors, historic players and amateurs, and contributors.
Major champions headline competitor ballots
The male competitor finalists are Jim Furyk, Corey Pavin, Justin Rose and Adam Scott.
The female competitor ballot includes Cristie Kerr, Liselotte Neumann, Inbee Park and Dottie Pepper.
Furyk, Kerr and Pepper were also finalists for the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024.
Historic figures and contributors recognized
Ted Ray, Jay Sigel and Alexa Stirling are finalists in the historic players and amateurs category. This category recognizes golfers whose careers were centered primarily in amateur competition or whose victories occurred more than 50 years ago.
Golf-course architect Harry Colt, instructor Butch Harmon and broadcaster Jim Nantz are finalists in the contributor category. The category honors people who have made a significant impact on golf outside tournament competition.
Sigel and Harmon were also finalists in 2024.
Selection scheduled for later this fall
The Hall of Fame received 162 public nominations for the Class of 2027. A nominating committee reviewed the candidates before selecting the 14 finalists.
A 24-member selection committee consisting of media representatives, Hall of Fame members and members of the organization’s board of directors will vote later this fall. A finalist must receive at least 75% of the vote to be elected.
The new inductees are scheduled to be announced in December.
Ceremony planned for St Andrews
The Class of 2027 induction ceremony will be held Monday, July 12, 2027, in St Andrews, Scotland, during the week of The Open Championship. The ceremony will be televised live in the United States on Golf Channel.
Located in Pinehurst, the World Golf Hall of Fame preserves the history of the sport through a collection of more than 3,000 artifacts celebrating its 170 members.
