Aberdeen Police have arrested a Pinebluff man following an investigation into an attempted break-in at Ma’s Exxon.
Officers responded to the business shortly after midnight on July 5 after receiving a report of a possible breaking or entering in progress.
Police found that a rock had been used to shatter the store’s glass door. An audible alarm was sounding when officers arrived, but the person responsible had already left.
Surveillance Video Helps Identify Suspect
Investigators reviewed surveillance video and determined that the person attempted to enter the business but was unsuccessful. Police said nothing was taken.
Detectives later identified 32-year-old Joseph Lee Jacobs of Pinebluff as a person of interest. Following additional investigation, police obtained warrants charging Jacobs with attempted felony breaking or entering and misdemeanor injury to real property.
Jacobs turned himself in to the Aberdeen Police Department on August 7. He received a $1,000 secured bond.
Jacobs is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
