A boil-water advisory affecting several roads in southern Lee County has been lifted after the latest water samples tested clear of coliform bacteria.
Customers along the following roads may resume normal water use:
- Eakes Road
- Cedar Lane Road
- Hancock Road
- Blakely Road
- Old Jefferson Davis Highway
- Oakleaf Road
Multiple Water Tests Came Back Clear
The advisory was issued after earlier samples detected total coliform bacteria. Coliform bacteria are commonly found in the environment and are not generally harmful by themselves, but their presence can indicate that other bacteria may be in the water system.
TriRiver Water continued flushing the affected lines and collecting additional samples. Multiple rounds of testing eventually came back clear, allowing the advisory to be discontinued.
Officials said every sample that tested positive for total coliform was also tested for E. coli. All E. coli tests were negative.
TriRiver Water will now return to its regular testing and monitoring schedule. Customers can receive future service alerts by signing up through the utility’s website.
