The Maribel Matochick DAISY Award recognition followed a nomination from a patient who spent several days on Moore Regional’s 3 Medical unit. The patient praised Matochick’s attention to detail, energy, humor, advocacy, empathy and compassion.
Patient Praises Exceptional Care
In the nomination, the patient described Matochick as someone whose mission was to provide the best nursing care possible. The comments highlighted both her clinical knowledge and her ability to support a patient during a difficult hospital stay.
Leigh Anna DeBerry, Matochick’s manager, said the nurse combines clinical excellence with genuine compassion. She added that Matochick helps patients and their families feel seen, heard and valued.

The DAISY Award is an international program that recognizes nurses for extraordinary care. FirstHealth uses the honor to recognize team members who go beyond their daily duties while fulfilling the health system’s purpose of caring for people.
