Kevin Robbins Resigns From Foxfire Village Council

FOXFIRE VILLAGE, N.C. — The Kevin Robbins resignation has created an open seat on the Foxfire Village Council and started a 30-day process for appointing a replacement.

Councilman Kevin J. Robbins submitted his resignation July 31, effective immediately. The resignation came one day after the council held its July work session and less than a year after Robbins was sworn into office in December 2025.

The remaining council members formally accepted the resignation during a special emergency meeting held Aug. 4.

Kevin Robbins resignation cites ongoing tension

Robbins said his decision was not caused by one meeting or disagreement. Instead, he described it as the result of ongoing tension during his time on the council.

In his resignation letter, Robbins said he had devoted significant time to studying village issues, developing potential solutions and advocating for the residents who elected him.

He also expressed frustration that he was spending too much time defending his opinions, motives and actions instead of concentrating on village business. Robbins said that conflict made it difficult to continue performing the work he hoped to accomplish as an elected official.

Foxfire council accepts the resignation

The Foxfire Village Council met Tuesday, Aug. 4, to formally accept the Kevin Robbins resignation and begin discussing the process for filling the vacant position.

The official acceptance allows the remaining council members to move forward with finding another Foxfire resident to serve the remainder of the open term.

Village officials indicated that they were working to assemble an application for residents interested in being considered for the position. Application requirements, submission instructions and the council’s selection timeline had not been announced at the time of the meeting.

Council has 30 days to fill the vacant seat

Under Foxfire Village rules, the council has 30 days to appoint someone to the vacant position. The appointment will be made by the remaining members of the Village Council rather than through an immediate special election.

The upcoming appointment is important because the selected resident will participate in decisions affecting village services, budgets, development and other local government matters.

Residents interested in the position should monitor official Village of Foxfire announcements for information about the application process and any upcoming public meetings connected to the vacancy.

What happens next in Foxfire Village?

The council must now establish its application and review process, consider eligible residents and make an appointment within the required 30-day period.

The Kevin Robbins resignation leaves the council working on a relatively short timeline. Additional information about applications and the appointment is expected to be released through the Village of Foxfire’s official communication channels.
