Nearly nine months after a burglary at an Aberdeen business, police say two Greensboro men are now facing felony charges following a lengthy, multi-agency investigation.
According to the Aberdeen Police Department, officers responded to NC Smoke and Vape on Oct. 3, 2025, after receiving a report of a break-in. Investigators determined that someone had removed a window from the business before stealing more than $9,000 worth of cigarette cartons.
Investigation Spanned Several Months
Following the burglary, detectives reviewed surveillance footage, processed evidence at the scene, and continued developing investigative leads over the following months.
During the investigation, Aberdeen Police learned that several law enforcement agencies across North Carolina were investigating similar crimes involving the same suspects. Those agencies included the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Greensboro Police Department, Holly Springs Police Department, and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say investigators used intelligence sharing, technology, and collaboration with partner agencies to identify the suspects and build the case.
Felony Charges File
On June 3, detectives obtained arrest warrants for 52-year-old Beroy Reid Jr. of Greensboro. He is charged with felony aiding and abetting, felony conspiracy, and felony possession of stolen goods.
Investigators also obtained warrants for 45-year-old Bobby Ray Williams Jr. of Greensboro. He is charged with felony breaking and entering, felony conspiracy, and felony possession of stolen goods.
According to police, Reid was located at the Lee County Jail, where deputies served the warrants. Williams was located at the Rockingham County Jail and was also served with the warrants while in custody.
Both men were held without bond because they are facing additional charges from other law enforcement agencies.

Aberdeen Police credited the successful investigation to strong partnerships between local, county, and state law enforcement agencies. Officials say sharing intelligence and investigative resources played a critical role in identifying the suspects and bringing the case forward.
The investigation also highlights how agencies across North Carolina continue working together to solve crimes that cross jurisdictional boundaries.

Business owners throughout Moore County continue to rely on local law enforcement to investigate property crimes and hold those responsible accountable. Aberdeen Police say this case demonstrates that even when an investigation takes months to complete, detectives remain committed to pursuing every available lead.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations. Beroy Reid Jr. and Bobby Ray Williams Jr. are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
