Moore County Schools Announces New Principals and District Leadership Changes

Moore County Schools is welcoming several new leaders as the district prepares for the upcoming school year. The appointments, which became effective July 1, include new principals at four schools and new leadership in key district administrative positions.

District officials say the leadership changes are designed to build on student success, strengthen school communities, and continue supporting students, teachers, and families throughout Moore County.

New Principals Named Across Moore County

Dr. Bridget Johnson has been appointed principal of Aberdeen Elementary School. She most recently served as Assistant Director for Student Support Services, where she helped oversee districtwide initiatives focused on student achievement and support.

Matthew Glendenning has been named principal of Cameron Elementary School after serving as assistant principal at Southern Middle School. During his time there, he helped oversee daily operations, school improvement planning, student testing, and staff development.

Shaun Krencicki will become the new principal at North Moore High School. He previously led Aberdeen Elementary School and worked closely with Southern Middle School administrators to strengthen collaboration between schools and improve student success.

Dr. Molly Capps has been selected as the new principal of Union Pines High School. She previously served as Moore County Schools’ Director for Student Support Services, overseeing counselors, psychologists, nurses, social workers, athletic directors, and school resource officers across the district.

District Leadership Changes

Moore County Schools also announced two key district-level appointments.

Dr. Carla Neal has been named the new Director for Student Support Services. She joins the district after serving as principal of Bennett School in Chatham County, where she led instructional improvement efforts and helped the school earn a “B” performance grade on the North Carolina School Report Card.

Andy McCormick has been promoted to Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. McCormick has served as principal of Union Pines High School since 2015, where the school consistently maintained strong academic performance, a graduation rate averaging 92 percent, and millions of dollars in scholarships awarded to graduating seniors each year.

Preparing for a New School Year

Superintendent Jennifer Purvis praised the newly appointed leaders, saying they have earned the trust and respect of their colleagues through their dedication, leadership, and commitment to students.

“These leaders have earned the trust and respect of their colleagues through their hard work, dedication, and commitment to students,” Purvis said. “I am confident they will continue building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.”

The appointments come as Moore County Schools prepares for another academic year, with district leaders focused on student achievement, school safety, and providing a positive learning environment across the county.

What This Means for Moore County Families

Leadership transitions are an important part of preparing for a successful school year. Families at Aberdeen Elementary, Cameron Elementary, North Moore High School, and Union Pines High School can expect opportunities to meet their new principals before classes begin later this summer.

As students and teachers return to classrooms in the coming weeks, these new leaders will play a key role in guiding their schools and supporting educational success throughout Moore County.
