A Southern Pines water bill error caused confusion after more than 8,500 utility customers received bills incorrectly stamped “Past Due.”
Southern Pines Water Bill Error Caused by Printing Mistake
Town officials say the mistake happened during the printing process and did not affect customer balances, account information, or payment records.
No late fees were added, and customers enrolled in AutoPay do not need to take any action.
What Customers Should Know
The town says all billing information remains accurate except for the incorrect “Past Due” notice. Customers should pay their normal amount by the regular due date.
Southern Pines officials apologized for the confusion and say additional review steps will be added before future bills are mailed.
