The First Tee Sandhills Community Hub Cameron project is moving forward, but the public will have to wait a little longer to see the progress in person.

First Tee – Sandhills announced that its planned open house at the future Community Hub site in Cameron has been postponed due to weather. The event will now take place on March 26 at 2 p.m.

First Tee Sandhills Community Hub Cameron Project

The Community Hub sits on a 34-acre property that was once farmland. The vision is to transform the site into a welcoming recreation and youth development destination for families across Moore County and the Sandhills.

The project will include a golf practice facility, a nine-hole short course, nature trails, and community gathering spaces.

The facility will also serve as the home base for the First Tee – Sandhills staff, who currently provide youth programs across nine counties in North Carolina.

According to executive director Courtney Stiles, the Community Hub is designed to create opportunity for local youth through sports, mentorship, and outdoor activity.

Open House Gives Community First Look

The March 26 open house will allow residents to visit the property, learn about the project’s future phases, and meet members of the team helping bring the vision to life.

Guests will also have the chance to hear from several experts involved in the project, including golf course designer Richard Mandell and other leaders in the golf and recreation industry.

Organizers say the goal is to build a place where children can learn the game of golf while developing character and leadership skills.

The Community Hub is expected to open around 2027 and will offer affordable or free access to youth programs.

Residents interested in attending the open house can RSVP through the First Tee Sandhills website.

As the project continues to take shape, it represents another step toward expanding outdoor recreation opportunities for young people in Moore County and across the Sandhills.
