Moore County Schools Superintendent to Retire in 2026

Dr. Tim Locklair, Moore County Schools Superintendent, has announced his plans to retire effective March 1, 2026, concluding a 31-year career in public education. A Moore County resident since age 11 and Pinecrest High grad, Dr. Locklair is credited with significant academic growth, launching the “MCS Way” leadership approach, and steering the district to top state rankings for proficiency and career readiness. His tenure also saw the expansion of educational options and support services, as well as the opening of Moore Innovative High School. Locklair was recently named Regional Superintendent of the Year and is one of eight finalists for state superintendent of the year. The school board will soon begin a superintendent search.
