A landmark antitrust trial against NASCAR opened yesterday in Charlotte. Three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, co-owner of 23XI Racing with Michael Jordan, broke down in tears during his testimony. Hamlin and Front Row Motorsports claim NASCAR operates as a monopoly, forcing teams into unfair financial deals. NASCAR says its charter system created $1.5 billion in equity for teams. What’s at stake? A win for the teams could dismantle NASCAR’s structure. A NASCAR victory could put 23XI and Front Row out of business. Hamlin resumes testimony Tuesday.
Pack fans have something to look forward to next season as NC State and Virginia will make college football history, kicking off 2026 in Brazil. The game which is slated for August 29th will be in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the first college football game played in South America.
Duke plays Virginia this Saturday in the ACC title game – it will be a dual screen for me as No. 2 Indiana and No. 1 OSU battle for Big 10 title Couch day for me Saturday.
Carolina Hoops fans are seeing their teams in the top 25, with Duke staying strong at No. 4 in the AP Top 25; UNC sits at 16. In women’s hoops, UNC women’s team ranks 11th. NC State women received 26 nods but first out of the top 25.
