In spite of the health challenges during this pandemic, the Sandhills Chapter of MOAA will not be deterred. Thanks to a gracious and generous team at the Pinehurst Village Chapel Sandhills MOAA will present the event via internet streaming. This year's service will be reduced slightly due to the limitations on assembling, but will be a great program featuring various participants. Admiral Leighton "Snuffy" Smith retired with over 34 years of distinguished military service. He was appointed to four star rank in April 1994 and became Commander in Chief, U. S Naval Forces Europe and Commander in Chief Allied Forces Southern Europe. He concurrently commanded the NATO led Implementation Force (IFOR) in Bosnia until August 1996. In 2007, he was selected as a Distinguished Graduate of the US Naval Academy, the institution’s most prestigious award. Admiral Smith is a military hero, as well as a valued member of our Pinehurst community, and we look forward to his insightful remarks.
